What makes this learning experience unique to Player and Families?: I always learned the most and paid closer attention when the person giving me advice was somebody I could easily relate to. My experiences, both good and bad, helped me learn a lot that I wish somebody would have passed on to me before I had to experience them for myself.

What extra information would you like to provide to a player and family so that they will consider this positive experience? I grew up in Alaska and had to earn everything I got in the world of baseball. My experiences, coaching, drills, and exercises coupled with a determination that nobody is going to keep me from playing is what got me where I am today. I always believed that I should be throwing harder than anybody else because I wanted it more. College was a big wake-up call that taught me it's possible, but there's more to it than having the best arm. You can have the biggest muscles and the strongest shoulder in the world and still not throw a ball over 70mph. Fluid repeatable mechanics come first and are most important. If you cannot repeat your delivery, you can't make adjustments. Until you understand why you missed your spot, you cannot make changes from pitch to pitch and that makes it very difficult to be competitive. Anything your young pitcher is going through, there is a very likely chance that I too at one point experienced it and I am here to offer my advice and hopefully some insight and be able to relate. I am all about the growth of the athlete. I believe that with out a solid foundation and a positive coach to build confidence in a child, the child will not grow to be successful, but with the right mentors, and positive role models, as well as environment the athlete can do anything and everything they set their minds to.
